The aftermath of our guilty pleasure
One of the most spoken-about subject as of the beginning of 2019, is the environment and the role we as consumers has in the society. It’s discussed time and time again what we should be doing to prevent the earth from dying and what we should not do. About how we should live our lives and how we should spend the money we earn. The fashion industry is “forcing us” to buy new garments, accessories etc every season but at the same time they’re making us feel guilty when doing so.
Under pressure: How different countries' attitude towards fashion can affect you
It is 2018 and the fashion scene is bigger than ever and growing. New collections pop up more often than you get your monthly phone bill, not only from the big fashion houses but from the independent designers that are oh so important and relevant. The urge of buying new garments is distinct and everywhere you go you see adds of the latest trends or the new “must have”. It is very unlikely you’ll go one whole day without passing at least one fashion ad.

Dare to be different, or not.
Sweden, the land of in between, middle, just right. Not too much one way and not too much the other way. Just safe right in the middle.
That is what you’re growing up thriving after in my home country. You don’t want to be seen as someone abnormal, someone who doesn’t look like everyone else, because what will yo neighbours think? What will your manager think and most important what will your friends think? You don’t want to be seen as an outsider, as someone who doesn’t fit in. It is more safe and comfortable to just fall back in line.

- A profile of the sustainable designer Cleo De Laet

Cleo De Laet studied Engineering Architecture at the University of Ghent in Belgium before her big move to Copenhagen at the age of 20.
Why 19 degrees and February isn’t a match
It’s the third day in a row where we have 19 degrees celsius. Which would’ve been a part of normality if I lived in Spain or Portugal or some place similar. But I live in London and it’s February. It’s not meant to be 19 degrees celsius here in February. Regardless of how much that feeds my soul and how happy I am to put some layers of colour on my pale winter skin, it scares me too. In this part of the world where I am, we’re suppose to have 4 seasons, winter, spring, summer and autumn. Right now it feels like we basically skipped winter. Or at least a part of it. We must’ve really harmed our planet for it to get like this. Global warming is a fact and it’s happening right now.
